The Hongqi Tiangong 08 (known overseas as the Hongqi EHS7) is a major D-segment luxury all-electric SUV under the FAW Hongqi brand. Serving as a pioneer model in Hongqi’s new energy vehicle (NEV) offensive, it is the first flagship built on both the "Tiangong" dedicated EV platform and the "Jiuzhang" intelligent platform. It is engineered to bolster Hongqi’s competitive edge in the premium pure electric SUV market through cutting-edge intelligent manufacturing and advanced tech features.

Positioned as a mid-to-large luxury SUV, the Hongqi Tiangong 08 measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm in a spacious 5-seater layout. Its core proposition centres on the "fusion of Oriental aesthetics and futuristic technology" and "robust pure electric performance in extreme sub-zero conditions". Key highlights include an 800V high-voltage ultra-fast charging architecture, high-tech battery chemistry with superior low-temperature resilience, in-house developed air suspension and rear-wheel steering systems, and a striking silhouette that marries "Hongqi Oriental Aesthetics" with sleek, modern aerodynamic styling.
Debut and Unveiling (2024): On 12 November 2024, at the "Hongqi Brand New Energy Night" in Shenzhen, Hongqi officially launched its all-new "Tiangong" EV platform and "Jiuzhang" intelligent platform, where the Tiangong 08 made its world premiere as the lead model for both platforms.
Official Launch (2025): On 8 January 2025, the Tiangong 08 officially went on sale in the Chinese domestic market, with prices starting from RM239,800 to RM339,800.
Global Rollout (2026): As a vital pillar of Hongqi's globalisation strategy, the model has opened order books across international markets including Europe (badged as the EHS7), underlining the brand's ambitions to capture the international premium electric vehicle segment.
Powertrain & Platform:
Tiangong Platform: A highly modular EV architecture scalable across full power bands, accommodating multiple battery pack sizes (75 kWh, 85 kWh, and 111 kWh).
Drivetrain Configurations: Available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants. The AWD setup features a dual-motor powertrain generating a combined maximum output of 455 kW (around 619 PS) and 756 Nm of peak torque, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in a brisk 3.9 seconds.
Battery & Charging: Fitted with Hongqi's class-leading low-temperature battery cell technology, the pack retains up to 98% of its usable capacity even in frigid conditions of -10°C, effectively eliminating "winter range anxiety". With ultra-fast charging capabilities, it can replenish driving range in as little as 5 minutes in specific scenarios, significantly boosting charging turnaround times.
ADAS & Chassis Dynamics: Underpinned by the "Jiuzhang" smart platform with full-stack proprietary intelligent driving capabilities, it supports highway navigation pilot assistance. On the chassis front, adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering come standard to deliver an optimal balance of sharp handling agility and supreme ride comfort for this full-sized SUV.
Safety & Build Integrity: Engineered to meet stringent international five-star safety standards, the battery pack incorporates a dedicated reinforced crash structure alongside rigorous multi-tier testing, complemented by extensive use of high-strength steel throughout the body frame.
The Tiangong 08 is widely regarded as the "flagship torchbearer" of Hongqi's new energy transition. Following its market rollout, it has earned glowing reception among family buyers thanks to its dignified yet athletic road presence and commendable real-world range stability in extreme cold trials. With generous cabin space, whisper-quiet NVH suppression (ambient background noise measured as low as 12.9 dB), and an attractive price point, it stands out as a formidable contender among mid-to-large pure electric SUVs in its segment, acting as a crucial sales driver towards Hongqi’s 2025 volume targets.
